Dribble...Shoot...Score!!!

As we walked into the arena you could see bright wonderful colours! Reds and blues but the things that were underneath those colourful outfits were our opponents. But our opponents for what? The NZ AIMS GAMES basketball tournament.

So many teams. Which teams are easy? Which teams are hard? So many questions were popping into my mind but once we entered the gym all my questions were answered.

Over the next few days we played game after game after game. We won some and also lost some but we kept on playing to the end.

Now the final game... well for me of course. This was the game to find out who got 13th or 14th. The points were going crazy! We passed them then they passed us. It was like a running race! Quickly Izzy got the ball. She dribbled, shooted and yes! A score!!!

It was so sad to leave Tauranga. I really loved playing basketball with my friends but at some point you have to finish the game.

The Friends Test

Me and My Friend Meg

If you were killed, I wouldn't be at your funeral... because I'd be in jail for killing the person who killed you!!!! We are true friends. We ride together, we die together. Send this to everybody you care about, including me if you care. See how many times you get sent this. I want you to know that you are an amazing friend till by death and forever. If I don't get this back, I understand, but I have a game for you. Once you read this letter, you must send it to fifteen people including the person who sent it to you. If you get at least three back, you are loved. Nobody knows how important some thing is until they lose it. Tonight, right at 12:00, the person you love will realize they love you. Then at 1:00 to 2:00, something is going to happen to you so be ready for the shock of your life. If you break this cabin you will have bad luck. With love copy and send this to the 15 prettiest girls or nicest guys you know. If you don't you will turn ugly in one year (Just kidding your always pretty). If you get three back, then dang your cute :)

Methanex Maths Spectacular 2014

Our Methanex Maths Team (Keifer, Joe, Meg and Kaiah).
On the 29th of August it was the Methanex Maths Spectacular. There was lots of different schools competing from all around New Plymouth.  In the first 5 minutes it was a very tight score. Our team was coming 2nd and only 10 points away from 1st. After another 5 minutes we were coming 3rd and slowly becoming in last place. But we kept our hopes up and made our way back up the ladder. In the end we got 10th. Sadly 10th doesn't stand for 1st, 2nd or 3rd but I'm still glad that we had fun and enjoyed ourselves.

The Missing Kayak

Kizoa slideshow: Kayak2014 - Slideshow
Yesterday afternoon thanks to a big supporter of our school, Sanfords, Auroa Primary School students were able to view the 'missing' trans Tasman Kayak of Scott Donaldson.   Scott Donaldson attempted to solo Kayak from Australia to New Zealand, however sadly after 83 days at sea he had to abandon his attempt.   Since then he's been looking for his Kayak, including searching for it extensively, but being unable to locate it.  Yesterday it was found, close to Auroa Primary School.  It was recovered yesterday and brought into the school for everyone to see.

AKO Currency

This is a slide show of our AKO currency questions. There is a different variety of questions about currency like... different symbols, who uses peso and many more. I made this slide show with Dayna and Leila. I hope you enjoy our slidshow.

Sport, Sport, Sport!!!

Sunny weather shone over the Auroa School courts on Sunday. A very short game of tennis was displayed by Kaiah and Durann. They were so evenly matched that during the whole game on one got any points at all. But on the basketball Side of things Kaiah got a few goals and so did Durann. They practiced passing, dribbling and everything in between but after a while the whole family played the game around the world. There was so much suspense in the air that everyone could have won. Until Lee passed the whole family and won the entire game.

Water Filled Fun

The camera is flashing in my face, wind blowing in my hair, suddenly water splashing on my arms.  Can you guess what we are doing?  Only throwing water balloons.

I know throwing squishy, cold, water filled balloons doesn’t seem like much fun, but for our family it was.  We were missing the board and making water fly everywhere.  The balloons were bouncing all over the place!  It was like we were inside of a washing machine.

While Durann was getting balloons thrown at his face, I was planning a very icey plan.  I filled up the bucket with water and you can guess what happened next.  Yes I poured the water all over him.  He was completely saturated.  But all fun comes to an end.

We had fun making the video and used our creative minds to make it, create it and edit it.  I can’t wait until we make another video.

Me, My Friends and Robots.

All I knew was that I could feel everyone shaking and shivering, feeling nervous, just waiting for it to be over and done with.Do you know whats happening? Only the cut off for Robotics…our worst nightmare.

“Ok everyone get prepared…he’s coming!” said Mrs K in an excited yet terrified voice. Hmmm? What to do, What to do. I’m jumping out of my skin! So nervous I’m even shaking in fear. But while I’m in a major panic attack my team mates Brylee and Meg have luckily set up everything into place…Perfect.

“So tell me about this?” He says. Meg steps up, to me I think she’s nervous but I know for sure that she’s not. 3,2,1, GO…“Um why’s it not working?” We all say together. He says just carry on. So we turn on our robots and start it. A few seconds later it turns into smush...a complete failure.

Lunch passed by...My teacher Mr Webb pulled out groups one by one. Looking like torture but for some treasure. As other groups walked out you see glittery shimmery eyes, others balling into eachothers arms. Finally he calls us to go outside. At the start it all sounds like misery but turns into pure gold.

After we got told the good news I felt very relieved. Looks like our hard work and dedication paid off.

Hmmm? I wonder what has happened this term? lets see Swimming Sports, Athletics, Basketball, Tryathalons, Making it o the student council and lots more! I especilly liked getting put forward to student councilnand honour my spot at the front of assembly.

I also get to have my own blog where everyone all over the world can see and enjoy my work online.

This term Ive tried to push myself to do more sport. I have done Tennis lessons, Bball, Swimming Sports, Athletics and the weet-bix tryathalon as well as the school tryatalon. After all this sport I knew I had lost my marbles!

I've liked this term. I did many fun things but this is still only the 1st chapter.

Blood Moon

A blood moon is when the Earth, Sun and Moon are lined up in the most perfect position to make the moon look the colour blood red. The Moon looks as if it was red but the sun is actually reflecting its light onto the Moon making it a blood red colour. This is a very special moment for our time since a Blood Moon only ever comes out every 500 years.

There are also many story's that the Blood Moon was on the same night as the Passover. The Passover was many years ago back in BC. Passover is an important biblically derived Jewish festival. The Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation over 3,300 years ago by God from slavery in ancient Egypt that was ruled by the Pharaohs, and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. It commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Hebrew Bible especially in the Book of Exodus, in which the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt.

Blood Moon (taken on our front lawn).

In this picture it took us 30 seconds to take because of how dark the sky is and our camera couldn't process this quick enough. Also during the 30 seconds it took to take this picture it was just enough time to make the world spin just slightly and make the stars turn into lines.

Junk Food in School

Over the years I've known myself for having junk food every once and a while but junk food in schools is a serious problem. In 2008 30% of children in New Zealand are obese, who knows what the percentage could be now?

If you have to much junk food every day of the week you'll start to become obese. More people are overweight today than ever before. Experts are calling it an "obesity epidemic." Obesity is when you start becoming fatter and fatter every day. You would not be exercising or playing any sports. You would be a lazy couch potato that eats junk food all day. It's bad enough sitting around all day let alone if your eating.

Too much junk food can cause health problems. Health problems would be bad for children, they will have no physical education and would be sick all the time. They could get 2 types of diabeties, heart disease, asthma and much more. They would have to visit the doctors all the time. We don't want kids to have any health problems especially if their only young.

If children go to school when they have too much junk food and are obese they could be teased and bullied. They would have a lack in confidence and wouldn't stand up for themselves. Most kids will lose their friends from skipping classes and even dropping out of school. Altogether they will have a big emotional toll.

Everybody likes to have a treat sometimes but don't let that treat follow you and take over your life. So try to listen to what I say, stop having so much junk food in school!

Tape Anyone???

For my latest math project I had to use tape. Sadly our class didn't have any tape so I had to improvise. First I cut out small strips of paper. Then covered it with glue. Lastly I stuck to the pieces I had to stick together

Bike 4 Life

Stomp, Stomp, Stomp, Feet racing along the ground. The suspense is killing me! Where is she? She should be here by now. Where are we you ask? Only the Weet-Bix Tryathalon at Ngamotu Beach.

Finally, she's here! Tag!!! Ok now I have to run as quick as the speed of light to go grab my bike, First lap. My body's jumping out of my skin. I can't even feel my legs! I literally had to walk my bike up every single hill. There's so many people passing me but I feel confident that I can finish the first lap.

I've been biking for over an hour already. Now I'm super worried that everyone's already finished but I'm still biking, I'll just have to find out for myself! I'm dying of thirst, I'm sweating like a waterfall but at least I'm almost finished.

Yay! I've made it back, now I just have to go through the finish line. Yay!!! I got my gold medal. Now that I've finished there's so many cameras all over the place. Luckily my friend Meg got an interview and I got to be in it. Hooray!!!

I had an awesome time at the tryathalon. I got a gold medal and heaps of signatures. Afterwards when we got home I thought to myself... It felt like I've been biking for my whole life!

Swimmers Luck

Hot steam rising up to the roof like a hot sauna. Small waves flowing through the water. Can you guess where we are?... only Stratford pools for one of the biggest events for our school called swimming sports.

My first race is coming up. Now I've majorly got butterflies. It's only a 25 metre race really just one length of the pool. "The 25 metre freestyle race" Mr C said through the noisy speakers. I'm to much of a cry baby to dive in so I may as well just start in the pool. On your marks, get set... Errrrr! Off goes the buzzer. I'm stroking as fast as I can, everyone's cheering for me then I touch the wall Finished. I came 4th, not to bad for my first race.

"Ok" I said to myself. I did fine in my first race but hopefully I'll be a bit better. 3,2,1 Go Go Go! My friends are in my race so I feel like I'll get a good placing. "Come on Keep going" said mum. And once again I got 4th.

Now I've got my breaststroke race. There was a lot of pressure on me cause we've got to do a two hand touch and no freestyle or butterfly kicks otherwise we'll get disqualified. Also on top of that I promised my friends that I'll try to do a dive. 3,2,1 Go!!! First I do my dive then make sure I don't do the wrong kick. I'm racing ahead getting close to first, then my two hand touch. Yay I got 2nd place hooray!!!

I enjoyed swimming sports, one second placing and two fourths. It must be swimmers luck!

I would also like to give credit to my dad for making this amazing video.

For me to try and reach this goal of 1000 you'll all have to tell your friends and family to check out my blog even if its just a quick look. Thank you.

Silver Rods

Bang!!! The gun shot up into the air. People racing along the track. Where are we you ask, only athletics day in Kaponga. To try and win the shield.

"11 year olds off to the marshaling tent" the lady up on the roof said on the distant speakers. As those three fatal numbers were called out i knew ill only get in last place. I ran as fast as I could. I passed the school tent where everyone was cheering for me I feel so happy that I end up passing someone. Finally!  Now I get a silver rod and put it in our schools points.

Now we're going to high jump and long jump. Here I go first attempt for long jump, Yes new high score (for the girls of course). Now Jessica's turn. Noooo! My heart collapsed she bet my record! Maybe something will be better on the high jump. This wasn't regular high jump but sudden death. We only get one go, so I better get over. Crash!!! You probably think I knocked it and I did. Hopefully Jessica doesn't beat me again. And she beats me and gets 2nd place.

Now my 200 metre race. This race I know I'm going to lose because last year I came last and started crying but that's another story.  I'm huffing and puffing, I try and keep the same pace the whole way. I end up passing the line getting last place, and what colour rod did I get... a silver rod again.

I enjoyed athletics... apart from the silver rods! But I tried my best and thats ok. By the way did I tell you that we won the shield?

Auroa School Triathalon

As the cool summer breeze blew into my face I was sitting there just waiting to hear the sound of thundering feet racing along the wet muddy ground.

"Ok" my race. One lap of the field seems easy enough. 3,2,1, GO!!! I started off with a slow jog, 'I feel pretty confident' I say in my head then I realise everybody's in front of me. So I caught up and tried to pass a few people.

I ran into the transition. I grabbed my bike, put my helmet on and started biking. Since I just finished the run I was so tired and slow. It was'nt any help with all the hills. All together we had to bike 3.8 km. As I was getting back to school I had to stop by the hall because we have lots of gravel so there ends up being a accident.

After I park my bike I run to the pools dive in and swim 2 lengths of the school pool. By now I couldnt even move. When I got out of the pool I'm huffing and puffing. I get an iceblock and some tokens to put in my whanua.

I had a fun time at the triathalon and I cant wait till the next one.
